The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
