The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who giveth and is dutiful (toward Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to Al-Husna (see Verse No: 6 footnote); 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verify on us is the guidance 12 and, behold, Ours is [the dominion over] the life to come as well as [over] this earlier part [of your life]: 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
