The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

AlifLaamMeem. 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 Who believe in [the existence of] that which is beyond the reach of human perception, and are constant in prayer, and spend on others out of what We provide for them as sustenance; 3 And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter. 4 It is the pious who follow the guidance of their Lord and gain lasting happiness. 5 BEHOLD, as for those who are bent on denying the truth - it is all one to them whether thou warnest them or dost not warn them: they will not believe. 6 God has sealed their hearts and hearing and their vision is veiled; a great punishment awaits them. 7
