The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night, when it envelops, 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by Him Who created male and female; 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 But only seeking the Countenance of his Lord the Most High. 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
