The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 [the while] We shall summon the forces of heavenly chastisement! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
