۞ He it is who created you from a single soul, and He created therefrom his spouse that he might find repose in her. Then when he covereth her she beareth a light burthen and fareth about therewith; then when she groweth heavy the twain call upon Allah their Lord: if Thou vouchsafest us a goodly child, we shall surely be of the thankful. 189 But when He gave them a Salih (good in every aspect) child, they ascribed partners to Him (Allah) in that which He has given to them. High be Allah, Exalted above all that they ascribe as partners to Him. (Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 9, Page 148). 190 Attribute they as partners to Allah those who created naught, but are themselves created, 191 Who can neither help them, nor help themselves? 192 If you call them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is the same whether you call them or you are silent. 193 Those whom you invoke, other than Allah, are worshipers like yourselves. Call them, and let them answer you, if what you say is true! 194 Have they feet on which they can walk? Have they hands with which they can grasp? Have they eyes with which they can see? Have they ears with which they can hear? Say [O Muhammad]: 'Invoke all those to whom you ascribe a share in Allah's divinity, then scheme against me and grant me no respite. 195 Surely my guardian is Allah, Who revealed the Book, and He befriends the good. 196 They on whom ye call beside Him have no power to help you, nor can they help you, nor can they help themselves. 197 And if ye call them towards guidance they will not hear and thou wilt behold them looking at thee, but they see not. 198 And O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) adopt forgiveness, and enjoin virtue, and turn away from the ignorant. 199 And if an evil whisper comes to you from Shaitan (Satan) then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer, All-Knower. 200 Verily, those who are Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V. 2:2), when an evil thought comes to them from Shaitan (Satan), they remember (Allah), and (indeed) they then see (aright). 201 while their brethren ceaselessly try to drag them into error. 202 And yet, when thou [O Prophet] dost not produce any miracle for them, some [people] say: "Why dost thou not seek to obtain it [from God]? Say: "I only follow whatever is being revealed to me by my Sustainer: this [revelation] is a means of insight from your Sustainer, and a guidance and grace unto people who will believe. 203 When the Quran is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace, so that you may receive mercy. 204 And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless. 205 Surely, those who are with your Lord (angels) are never too proud to perform acts of worship to Him, but they glorify His Praise and prostrate before Him. ۩ 206
