And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allah] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood. 76 and [how] We succoured him against the people who had given the lie to Our messages: verily, they were people lost in evil - and [so] We caused them all to drown. 77 We bestowed the same favour upon David and Solomon. Recall, when they gave judgement regarding a tillage into which the sheep of some people had strayed at night, and We were witnesses to their judgement. 78 So We gave the understanding thereof unto Sulaiman; and unto each We vouchsafed judgment and knowledge. And We so subjected the mountains that they shall hallow us along with Daud, and also the birds; and We were the doers. 79 And We taught him the making of metal coats of mail (for battles), to protect you in your fighting. Are you then grateful? 80 And unto Sulaiman We subjected the wind, strongly raging, running at his command toward the land wherein We had placed Our blessing; and of evrything We are the knowers. 81 And of the rebellious people there were those who dived for him and did other work besides that, and We kept guard over them; 82 ۞ And Job -- when he called unto his Lord, 'Behold, affliction has visited me, and Thou art the most merciful of the merciful.' 83 We heard his prayer and relieved his suffering, We restored to him his family, doubling their number as an act of Our grace, and as a reminder for the worshippers. 84 Remember Ishmael and Idris and Dhul Kifl: they were all patient and steadfast. 85 And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous. 86 And (remember) Dhan-Nun (Jonah), when he went off in anger, and imagined that We shall not punish him (i.e. the calamites which had befallen him)! But he cried through the darkness (saying): La ilaha illa Anta [none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allah)], Glorified (and Exalted) are You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]. Truly, I have been of the wrong-doers." 87 We therefore heard his prayer and rescued him from grief; and similarly We shall rescue the Muslims. 88 And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while you are the best of inheritors." 89 So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive. 90 And remember the woman who maintained her chastity, We therefore breathed Our Spirit into her and made her and her son a sign for the entire world. 91 Verily this community of yours is a single community, and I am your Lord; so worship Me. 92 But they split up the order among themselves; (yet) all of them have to come back to Me. 93
