Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 to your heart that you might become one of those who warn (others on behalf of Allah), 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 If We had sent it down on a barbarian 198 And had he recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 In this wise have We made way for it into the hearts of the culprits. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 It will come upon them suddenly when they are not expecting it. 202 Then they will say: "Shall we be respited?" 203 Would they then wish for Our Torment to be hastened on? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 All that with which they used to enjoy shall not avail them. 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 By way of reminder, and We have never been unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 neither are they worthy of it, nor are they capable of it, 211 The satans are barred from listening to anything from the heavens. 212 So call not on any other god with Allah, or thou wilt be among those under the Penalty. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 then, if they disobey thee, say, 'I am quit of that you do.' 216 And rely on the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And thy movements among those who fall prostrate. 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 [And] shall I tell you upon whom it is that those evil spirits descend? 221 They descend on every lying (one who tells lies), sinful person. 222 They incline their ears, and most of them are liars. 223 Poets are followed by the perverse. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
