And the chiefs of his people, who disbelieved and denied the Meeting in the Hereafter, and to whom We had given the luxuries and comforts of this life, said: "He is no more than a human being like you, he eats of that which you eat, and drinks of what you drink. 33 And if you obey a mortal like yourselves, then most surely you will be losers: 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and we shall not be raised (again). 37 He is naught but a man who has forged against God a lie, and we will not believe him.' 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 So they were rightly seized by a mighty blast; and We turned them into mouldy rubbish: A good riddance of the wicked people! 41 After them We brought another generation into existence. 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor can it put it back. 43 Then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time there came to a nation its messenger, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe. 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our miracles and clear proofs 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 Then they belied the twain; so they became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave Moses the Book so that they might be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
