Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 When the oceans begin to flow, 3 And the sepulchres are overturned, 4 everyone shall know all his deeds, both the earlier and the later. 5 O human! What has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord 6 Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned, 7 and composed thee after what form He would? 8 Nay, but ye deny the Judgment. 9 Verify there are for you guardians, 10 Noble and recording; 11 Knowing all what you may do. 12 Verily the pious shall be in Delight. 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 roasting in it on the Day of Recompense 15 And thence they shall not be allowed to be absent. 16 And what will make you realize what the day of judgment is? 17 And once again: What could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 18 [It will be] a Day when no human being shall be of the least avail to another human being: for on that Day [it will become manifest that] all sovereignty is God's alone. 19
