He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
