Thamood cried lies to the Envoys 141 Recall when their brother Salih said to them: "Have you no fear?" 142 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 143 Have fear of God and obey me. 144 For this I demand no recompense from you; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 In gardens and fountains, 147 farms, and palm-trees in thick groves, 148 "And you carve houses out of mountains with great skill. 149 So fear God and obey me: 150 Do not follow those who are extravagant, 151 who spread evil in the land with no reform." 152 They said: "You are only of those bewitched! 153 You are only a human being like ourselves. Show us a sign, if you are telling the truth." 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 Do not molest her lest the chastisement of an Awesome Day should seize you." 156 But they hamstrung her, and then were penitent. 157 and the punishment seized them. Surely, in that there is a sign. Yet most of them do not believe. 158 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 159
