Aaron had told them before, "My people, you are deceived by the calf. Your Lord is the Beneficent God. Follow me and obey my orders". 90 They said "So long as Moses does not come back we are not going to give it up, and we will remain devoted to it." 91 [Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray, 92 from [abandoning them and] following me? Hast thou, then, [deliberately] disobeyed my commandment?" 93 He said: O son of my mother! seize me not by my beard nor by my head; surely I was afraid lest you should say: You have caused a division among the children of Israel and not waited for my word. 94 Moses asked, "Samiri, what were your motives?" 95 He answered: "I saw what the people did not see. So I took a handful of dust from the trail of the Messenger, and I flung it (into the fire). Thus did my mind prompt me." 96 (Moses) said: "Get thee gone! but thy (punishment) in this life will be that thou wilt say, 'touch me not'; and moreover (for a future penalty) thou hast a promise that will not fail: Now look at thy god, of whom thou hast become a devoted worshipper: We will certainly (melt) it in a blazing fire and scatter it broadcast in the sea!" 97 Your God is none else than Allah, beside Whom there is no god. His knowledge embraces everything." 98 Thus do We narrate some account to you of what has gone before, and We have truly given you a Reminder of Our own. 99 Whoever turns away from it will surely carry a burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The Day when the Horn shall be blown. On that Day, We shall assemble all the sinners with blued eyes, 102 In whispers will they consult each other: "Yet tarried not longer than ten (Days); 103 We know best what they will say, when their leader most eminent in conduct will say: "Ye tarried not longer than a day!" 104
