3/4 Hizb 45
< random >
(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 We saved him and his people from great distress, 76 And We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 78 "Peace be upon Noah throughout all the worlds!" 79 Verily, thus We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 Then the rest we overwhelmed in the Flood. 82 ۞ Verily among those who followed his Way was Abraham. 83 When he came to his Lord, with a sound heart. (Free from falsehood). 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire? 86 What do you think about the Lord of the Universe?" 87 And he glanced a glance at the stars 88 and said: “I am sick.” 89 So they turned away from him, and departed (for fear of the disease). 90 Then he turned to their gods, and said, 'What do you eat? 91 Why do you not speak?" 92 He struck them with his right hand. 93 So the disbelievers came running towards him. 94 He said, "How can you worship what you yourselves have carved 95 when it is Allah who created you and all that you do' 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 They plotted against him, but We brought humiliation upon them. 98 And he said: verily I am going to my Lord who will guide me. 99 Abraham prayed, "Lord, grant me a righteous son". 100 whereupon We gave him the glad tiding of a boy-child gentle [like himself]? 101 When he was old enough to go about with him, he said: "O my son, I dreamt that I was sacrificing you. Consider, what you think?" He replied: "Father, do as you are commanded. If God pleases you will find me firm." 102 Then, when they had both surrendered (to Allah), and he had flung him down upon his face, 103 We called to him, saying: 'O Abraham, 104 you have fulfilled what you were commanded to do in your dream." Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 105 Indeed this was a clear test. 106 And We rescued him in exchange of a great sacrifice. (The sacrifice of Ibrahim and Ismail peace be upon them is commemorated every year on 10, 11 and 12 Zil Haj). 107 and left him thus to be remembered among later generations: 108 Peace be unto Abraham! 109 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
