۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And halt them, to be questioned: 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring. 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and replied, "Shall we then give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 But it will be no more than the retribution of (the Evil) that ye have wrought;- 39 Not so, however, God's true servants: 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 Crystal-white, of a taste delicious to those who drink (thereof), 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 A speaker of them will say: "Verily, I had a companion (in the world), 51 Who used to say: 'Are you one of those who can testify to the truth? 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 It is a tree that comes forth in the root of Hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 Washing it down with boiling water. 67 Then their return will be to the same blazing Hell. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
