The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news - 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
