But as for anyone who chooses to remain blind to the remembrance of the Most Gracious, to him We assign an [enduring] evil impulse, to become his other self: 36 Devils divert men from the [right] way, while they think that they are rightly guided. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 And it will profit you not today, because ye have done wrong, that ye are in the torment sharers. 39 Can you make the deaf to hear, or show the blind, and those lost in clear error, the way? 40 So if We take you away, We shall then indeed take revenge from them. 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Surely you are on the Straight Way. 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 And question thou our messengers whom We sent before thee; did We appoint any deities other than (Allah) Most Gracious, to be worshipped? 45
