Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Then as to Samood, they were destroyed by an excessively severe punishment. 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 To which He subjected them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that thou mightest have seen men during it lying prostrate, as though they were stumps of palms ruined. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth is moved, and its mountains, and they are crushed to powder at one stroke,- 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that day ye will be exposed; not a secret of you will be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 I was sure that the record of my deeds would be shown to me". 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 with fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink at ease for that which you have sent on before you in days past! 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 Therefore he has not here today a true friend, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
