NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 And we have been wading with the waders. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 WHAT, THEN, is amiss with them that they turn away from all admonition 49 As though they were frightened asses 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay; every one of them desires that he may be given pages spread out; 52 No, indeed they have no fear of the Everlasting Life. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
