No, by the moon! 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 From the guilty. 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 “Nor used to feed the needy.” 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What is then the matter with them, that they turn away from the admonition 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 No! Indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
