Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
BEHOLD. We sent Noah unto his people. [Saying:] "Warn thy people ere grievous suffering befall them! 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 but the more I called, the farther they fled. 6 Every time I have called to them, so that You might forgive them, they have only thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, grown obstinate, and given themselves up to arrogance. 7 Then I called them loudly and more openly, 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth a wide expanse, 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
