The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great event, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
