The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Nay! Nay! they shall soon know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
