He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
