The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 They (disbelievers) plot every evil plan, 15 and so am I: 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
