Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
