Behold! Abraham said to his father and his people: "I do indeed clear myself of what ye worship: 26 Save Him Who did create me, for He will surely guide me. 27 And he made it a word enduring among his seed, that haply they might return. 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 When the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic and we have no faith in it". 30 They say, 'Why was this Koran not sent down upon some man of moment in the two cities?' 31 Is it they who apportion the mercy of your Lord? It is We who distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raise some of them above others in rank, so that they may take one another into service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than [the wealth] which they amass. 32 Had it not been that all people would become one community (of unbelievers), We might have given those who disbelieve in Ar-Rahman roofs of silver for their dwellings and (silver) stairs for mounting, 33 doors for their houses, couches on which to recline, 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
