The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ AlifLaamMeem. 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In a near land, and they, after being vanquished, shall overcome, 3 All matters of the past and future are in the hands of God. The believers will enjoy the help of God on that Day. 4 with the help of God. He helps whom He pleases: He is the Mighty, and the Merciful. 5 [It is] the promise of Allah. Allah does not fail in His promise, but most of the people do not know. 6 People simply know the outward aspect of the worldly life but are utterly heedless of the Hereafter. 7 What, have they not considered within themselves? God created not the heavens and the earth, and what between them is, save with the truth and a stated term; yet most men disbelieve in the encounter with their Lord. 8 Have they not travelled on the earth and seen how the others before them had met their end? They were far more powerful than them, furrowed the earth and colonised it far more than they; and their apostles came to them with visible signs. It was surely not for God to wrong them, they wronged themselves. 9 Then evil was the end of those who did evil, because they rejected the communications of Allah and used to mock them. 10
