Say: 'Lord, if You should show me that which they are promised, 93 My Lord! then set me not among the wrongdoing folk. 94 Indeed, We are able to show you that which We promised them. 95 Repel evil with that which is better. We know that which they describe. 96 and say, "My Lord, I seek refuge with You from the prompting of the devils. 97 and I take refuge in Thee, O my Lord, lest they attend me.' 98 Until, when death comes to one of them he says: 'My Lord, let me go back, 99 so that I might act righteously in whatever I have failed [aforetime]!" Nay, it is indeed but a [meaningless] word that he utters: for behind those [who leave the world] there is a barrier [of death] until the Day when all will be raised from the dead! 100 And when the Horn is blown, on that Day their ties of kindred shall be no more, nor will they ask each other. 101 Only those whose scales are heavier in the balance will find happiness. 102 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their souls in Gehenna dwelling forever, 103 The Fire will scorch their faces, and therein they shall be grinning. 104 (They will be told), "Were Our revelations not recited to you and did you not call them lies?" 105 They will say: Our Lord! Our evil fortune conquered us, and we were erring folk. 106 O our Lord! take us forth from it; then if we return, we shall be wrong-doers indeed. 107 He will say: "Be ye driven into it (with ignominy)! And speak ye not to Me! 108 Verily there was a party of My bondmen who said: our Lord! we have believed, wherefore forgive us and have mercy upon us, and Thou art the Best of the merciful ones! 109 But ye chose them for a laughing-stock until they caused you to forget remembrance of Me, while ye laughed at them. 110 I have rewarded them this Day for their steadfastness, and it is they who have triumphed." 111 [And] He will ask [the doomed]: "What number of years have you spent on earth?" 112 They will say: "A day or less than a day. Ask the enumerators of numbers." 113 He will say: "You stayed there only a moment, if you knew. 114 "Did you think that We had created you in play (without any purpose), and that you would not be brought back to Us?" 115 God is the most exalted King and the Supreme Truth. He is the only God and the Lord of the Gracious Throne. 116 Hence, he who invokes, side by side with God, any other deity - [a deity] for whose existence he has no evidence - shall but find his reckoning with his Sustainer: [and,] verily, such deniers of the truth will never attain to a happy state! 117 Say, "Lord, forgive us and have mercy. You are the best of those who show mercy." 118
