The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Great Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)]. 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none will deny it, except every transgressor, rebel. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No indeed! The truth is that their hearts have become rusted on account of their evil deeds. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 A record of good deeds written. 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
