We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 Assuredly the Day of Decision is the term for all of them, 40 The day when friend will help no friend in the least, nor will they be helped, 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
