He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
