Al-An 'aam 13 of 20
the Originator of the heavens and the earth. How could He have a son when He has no consort? He created everything and is aware of everything! 101 That then is God your Lord; there is no god but He, the Creator of everything. So serve Him, for He is Guardian over everything. 102 No vision can grasp Him, but He takes in over all vision; He is the Subtle and Aware One. 103 “Enlightening proofs came to you from your Lord; so whoever observes, it is for his own good; and whoever is blind, it is for his own harm; and I am not a guardian over you.” 104 Thus do we explain the signs by various (symbols): that they may say, "Thou hast taught (us) diligently," and that We may make the matter clear to those who know. 105 (Muhammad), follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord; there is no God but He, and stay away from pagans. 106 But if Allah had willed, they would not have associated. And We have not appointed you over them as a guardian, nor are you a manager over them. 107 Do not revile those who invoke others apart from God, lest they begin to revile God out of malice and ignorance. We have made attractive their deeds to every people. They have to go back to their Lord, when He will tell them what they used to do. 108 Now they swear by God with their most solemn oaths that if a miracle were shown to them, they would indeed believe in this [divine writ]. Say: "Miracles are in the power of God alone." And for all you know, even if one should be shown to them, they would not believe 109 We will turn away their hearts and eyes from the Truth, since they refused to believe in it in the first instance. We will let them wander blindly in their insolence. 110

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
