Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him and said, “Peace”; he answered, “Peace”; and thought, “These people are not familiar.” 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 And placing it before them said: "Won't you eat?" 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: Thus says your Lord: Surely He is the Wise, the Knowing. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "What is your errand, O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 We left a sign in this for those who fear the grievous punishment, 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
