The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood;- 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
