The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what ask they? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
