The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile. 17
