The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
