The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but, when they measure for them or weigh for them, do skimp. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 On a grievous day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Ah the woe that day for those who deny, 10 Who call the Day of judgement a lie! 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what will explain to thee what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord). 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and whenever they return to people of their own kind, they return full of jests; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Did not the disbelievers get repaid for what they used to do? 36
