The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude of those of old 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 The like of the hidden pearls: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
