He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
