AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is in between them except with Truth. Surely the Hour will come. So, (O Muhammad), do graciously overlook them (despite their misdeeds). 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 and say, "I am, indeed, a plain warner," 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 so by your Lord, We will question them all 92 For all that they used to do. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 We know indeed thy breast is straitened by the things they say. 97 Glorify and praise your Lord and be with those who prostrate themselves before God. 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
