The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a host of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
