Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and arranged cushions 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
