Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
