The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Book written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We aided them with fruit and meat, whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
