Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 and goblets set forth 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
