And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 no loyal friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
