A multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the first generation (who embraced Islam). 39 and a good many of later times. 40 And the fellows on the left hand; how miserable shall the fellows on the left hand be! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 which will neither be cool nor soothing. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 And were stubborn upon the great sin (of disbelief). 46 And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected? 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, the former and the later peoples 49 Will be gathered together on a certain day which is predetermined. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 shall eat the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 "Then will ye fill your insides therewith, 53 And drink over it scalding water, 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment. 56 It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 Did you create it or was it We who created it? 59 It is We Who ordained death upon you and We are not to be frustrated. 60 Had We so wished, nothing could have hindered Us from replacing you by others like yourselves, or transforming you into beings you know nothing about. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you who cause them to grow or do We? 64 If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin to lament: 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 And have you seen the water that you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 If We had so pleased, We could have made it bitter. So why would you not give thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Have you raised its tree, or We have raised it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 Therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) proclaim the Purity of the name of your Lord, the Greatest. 74
