S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Sad. I swear by the Quran, which is full of reminders of God, (that you are a Messenger). 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 So they wonder that a Warner has come to them from among themselves! and the Unbelievers say, "This is a sorcerer telling lies! 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 Before them, the people of Nooh had denied, and the tribe of A’ad, and Firaun who used to crucify. 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified. 14
